National Treasures, Alex The Astronaut & Stella Donnelly, Announce Co-Headline Tour

This is not a drill! Two of the most important voices in Australian music, Alex the Astronaut and Stella Donnelly, are joining together for a co-headline tour this April.

Achieving brilliance and kicking many goals in their own rights, the two singer-songwriters will both be hitting the road for an extensive tour, with supports (TBA) in tow. They’ll be playing to some huge audiences including Byron Bay’s The Northern, Gold Coast at the Soundlounge and the pair are announced as part of the Festival 2018 Commonwealth Games lineup in South Bank’s Cultural Forecourt. As well as the big stops, Stella and Alex will also be hitting the more regional areas such as Bendigo, Margaret River and Ballarat.

Alex the Astronaut has slowly, but very surely, built an acclaimed body of charming, heart-felt music—pairing that with her studies to become a, well, astronaut. Her sophomore EP, ‘See You Soon’ spawned the much adorned and important track, Not Worth Hiding which cracked triple j’s Hottest 100 at a staggering #23. Stella Donnelly, on the other hand, released an unapologetic five-track EP last year, ‘Thrush Metal’ to incredibly high praise. She gave the world one the most inspiring and vocal songs of 2017, Boys Will Be Boys—a track which examines victim blaming rather than ownership.

Speaking with AAA Backstage during BIGSOUND, Alex admitted Donnelly was one of her highlights from the festival, as did many, many others as well as the judges of the inaugural Levi’s Music Prize.
