Caribou’s Dan Snaith Carries On His Daphni Project

Daphni, the alter ego of the ever talented Dan Snaith, also known to many as Caribou, has just laid down some brand new music on us! Taken from his new album ‘Joli Mai’, Carry On has very similar elements to the previously released Caribou titles with a bit more of a brighter twist.

It has all the classic attributes Caribou brings to the table. Very wide sampled effects of nature blended with arpeggiated keys and that familiar vocal sample of lead vocalist Dan Snaith. Daphi, though containing closer musical elements to Caribou, is a more club-orientated diversion to his regular work. While Caribou contains a full band element, Daphni clearly resembles that of a solo project. Carry On comes of the back of Daphni’s ‘Fabriclive 93’ mix album which featured entirely new material—ensured to be a precursor to ‘Joli Mai’.

Daphni released its first full-length ‘Jiaolong’ in 2012 to incredible reception—spawning singles such as Ye Ye and Pairs. Though keeping busy with Caribou’s masterful ‘Our Love’ album in 2015 with a worldwide tour—which included a stopover at Australia for the national Laneway Festival circuit—Snaith has always had to time to devote to Daphni. Earlier this year, singles Hey Drum and Face to Face were released and is a good chance they’ll feature on the new album.

Take a listen below and keep an eye out for the full review later this week. ‘Joli Mai’ will be release on Snaith’s own label, Jiaolong, this Friday October 6.
