Don’t Lose Your Mind, Pixies Are Coming To ‘Straya!

pixies

Veteran alt-rockers The Pixies have announced the Australian leg of their world tour, which is in support of their sixth studio album ‘Head Carrier’. The east coast tour will be their first time down under since 2014.

Um Chagga Lagga, the first single from ‘Head Carrier’, is a throwback to old-school pixies, despite the departure of founding bassist Kim Deal. The track features a high-energy chorus, fronted by the peculiar vocals of Black Francis. The frantic guitars and thrashing drums keep your head banging levels at a high, and will get some bodies moving when they drop it live.

The Pixies have been recognised for being the act to commercialise the style of using stop-start dynamics, in terms of being very quiet with few instruments and then following with a hammering, loud chorus. The likes of Nirvana, Radiohead, David Bowie and U2 have all stated that the Pixies have influenced their music in some way.

Their most well-known song Where Is My Mind has been hailed as a rock classic, and has been regularly featured in modern culture. From TV Shows and movies, to advertisements and an abundance of covers, the song is known by people worldwide in one way or another.

‘Head Carrier’ is due to be released on Friday September 30th. Tickets for the live show go on sale on Friday Septmeber 2nd, so keep those eyes peeled. In the meantime, check out the live video for Um Chagga Lagga and note down their Australian tour dates below!
