We Interview Nina Las Vegas!

nina-las-vegas

Miss Las Vegas, you are very well known as a presenter on Triple J, for your shows House Party and Mix Up Exclusives. Is this mix CD a compilation of all your personal favourites, or favourites of the fans?

The triple j House Party compilation is a mix of triple j favourites, remixes that you may not have heard before, songs that can only be heard on House Party (like A$AP and Sinden) and all time party jams.

It was put together with the listener in mind, however I feel like we’re on the same page. We like to move to go music.

Your have spoken in the past of your love for former Australian Idol Contestant, Lee Harding. I am sure many House Party fans are disappointed that he hasn’t made an appearance on your album. Can you explain yourself?

Um, I can’t ever remember proclaiming that! However, I talk a lot of shit. I don’t think anyone is disappointed.

What sets ‘House Party’ apart from the numerous Ministry of Sound’s, One Love’s and other dance compilations released each year?

The House Party CD mixes a lot of genres together, much like the radio show! I don’t know how the other two brands work in regards to putting together a compilation, however I felt like I wasn’t constrained to putting together a CD only targeting dance music lovers. House Party embraces the dance music scene AND MORE!

You must be excited for the Big Day Out tour. Majority of your gigs are at clubs, how will a House Party festival set be different?

Festival sets are the best. I treat them like performances, working on them for weeks at a time! Sometimes club shows require you to play to room, where festivals crowds are a little more up for anything AKA I can go nuts.

The festival has some incredible acts. Which will you make sure to see?

I cannot wait to see Childish Gambino. I’m a sucker for his music and Community.

What else is to come from mixmistress Nina Las Vegas before the end of the year?

Ahhhhh, so much. My brain is literally exploding with plans. Watch this space.

Now for the AAA Backstage signature question: If Nina Las Vegas was an animal, what would she be?

A busy bee.

live-review-the-bronx-dz-deathrays-spitfireliar-the-hi-fi-brisbane It's Tuesday night in West End and The Hi-Fi is heaving. Not long after the doors are opened, it's nigh-on impossible to get near the bar, the area in front of the stage is rapidly becoming an elbow-room-free zone, and the steps linking the two are filled with lines of people who always seem to be...
