Fat As Butter Add New Bands + Announce Band Competitions
Fat As Butter Festival are excited to announce the addition of FAR EAST MOVEMENT and KARMIN to the already killer line-up. Both acts will be joining the likes of GOOD CHARLOTTE, 360, YELLOWCARD, GRINSPOON + more on Saturday September 22 on the Newcastle Foreshore.
FAR EAST MOVEMENT are one of the hottest new hip hop bands from the US, since gaining international recognition with their track “Like a G6” (Number 1 on the Billboard charts and on iTunes in 2010), they have released their brand new album Dirty Bass, with the hit single “Live My Life”. No strangers to the stage, FEM has toured with some of the biggest artists in the world, including Rhianna and Lil Wayne. The LA-based electro-rappers promise something for everyone when they hit the Newcastle FAB stage!!
USA pop duo KARMIN ignited the blogosphere when they posted a cover of Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now” on YouTube, which was consequently tweeted by some of the biggest hip hop heavy hitters, including The Roots’ Questlove and The Game. Singer and emcee Amy Heidemann has been astonishing millions of fans around the world with her raps at warp speed, mixed with her ‘40s film star style. One MTV critic pronouncing: “Don’t let the Charlotte-from-Sex-And-The-City-façade fool you – this girl can THROW.IT.DOWN.”
In more exciting news, Fat As Butter have announced not one, but TWO band competitions giving aspiring bands the chance to play on the Fat As Butter stage. triple j Unearthed are once again holding a competition for any unearthed band wanting to play Newcastle’s biggest festival of the year – just head to the triple j Unearthed page and follow the steps. Bands have until September 2 to enter.
And this year, there’s also a SECOND chance to play. Fat As Butter organisers are also giving LOCAL BANDS a chance to grace the FAB stage, holding another local band competition, that will be voted by the public on the FAB Facebook page. Also maintaining a local flavour, Fat As Butter, are proud to support "Youth Rockin' the Black Dog" – a music competition designed to raise awareness for youth mental health issues among young people in the hunter and surrounding regions. FAB organisers have announced last year’s winner Carousel will be joining the FAB bill.
