Neighbourhood Youth Have Been Killing It Lately

Here at AAA Backstage, there’s no hiding the fact that we’re massive fans of Neighbourhood Youth. Premiering their previous tune, Hugo, back in April, the four-piece have since been slaying national stages on the road and joining such prestigious acts as WAAX, British India and Dappled Cities. Raising the bar, yet again, Neighbourhood Youth have unveiled their new corker, Lately.

Lately sets in fast with its breakneck pace, allowing the group to construct a funnel of wicked sharp guitar tones and devilishly rapid percussive elements. With all this combined, Lately strikes to the already formulated Neighbourhood Youth method of groundbreaking and booming vocal melodies courtesy of singer and guitarist, John Philip.

The video could almost be used as a loving tribute to Australian Tourism. Filmed on the road on the Up The Guts tour earlier this year—with the likes of Dumb Punts and Loose Teeth—the video showcases moments of austerity and camaraderie between the band and this great Southern land from Melbourne to Darwin. Lately is momentous and a grand triumph in indie-rock.

Neighbourhood Youth plan to play a live stage near you very soon, but, for the locals, the group will be performing alongside Halcyon Drive in October. Scope those details below along with a stream of new single, Lately.
