Pepa Knight’s “Company” Is All You Need
NSW songwriter Pepa Knight has returned with a powerful new single Company that truly builds on his natural indie pop sound. The track comes as Knight breaks away from his second life as the Jinja Safari frontman and returns under his solo moniker.
Opening with soft electronic effects and a pounding drum beat, soft chiming builds Company up, making for a surprisingly anthemic track that belongs on a summer festival stage at sunset. Knight’s affectionate and uplifting vocals carry the song, spurred on by lyrical tales of past hardships.
Knight said was only after closing the door on Jinja Safari that Knight took the time to bring to life the work he’d been planning for years. “This tune actually came about from a six-year-long collaboration with a good friend of mine and genius songwriter Stephen Engstrom. He originally sent me the idea back in 2010, and it only finally came together earlier this year while I was in-between mixing the final Jinja Safari album. Now that Jinja Safari has come to an end, I now have the headspace to move on creatively and excited to release more music in the near future,” he said.
Company is the first track off the Knight’s second solo album, ‘Hypnotized Vol.II’, which is set for an early 2017 release. Keep your eyes peeled – there’s a new video for Company on the way too!
