PREMIERE: Hooks-A-Plenty On Good Lekker’s ‘Levitate’

Still fairly new around the traps, Illawarra six-piece Good Lekker are bound for greatness. They’ve sparked the attention of two major, upcoming festivals thanks to their intense and hook-filled indie-rock. On Levitate, the group’s latest, they’ve superbly hit their stride. AAA Backstage are pleased to premiere the new single before its release.

For a six-piece, Good Lekker sure know how to cram in a lot of musical ideas. They’ve charmed us before with Alibi and the wildly successful What I Used To Know. On Levitate, the group pack its three-and-a-half minutes full of interwinding guitars, grounding bass lines and effective synth fills. As the name would suggest, the music moves and floats around the cascading instrumentation.

Talk about a band who know how to create killer pop hooks, too. Paired with the playful and plentiful guitar work, the chorus will easily stick in your head for days to come. While pop might not be the right word to use, it’s not to the band’s chagrin anyway, as they beef up the psych influence just a touch on Levitate.

We’re promised their live show is also killer. It should be, as they’ve been support acts for the likes of Boo Seeka, Gold Member and Port Royal.
