Propagandhi Give Us A Victory Lap With A New Song & Album

Canadian punk royalty, Propagandhi, have been relatively quiet since 2012’s ‘Failed States’, the band’s sixth full-length record. This morning, the group surprised the world with a new single, Victory Lap, and news of their first new album in 5 years of the same name.

Due on digital shelves 29 September via Epitaph, ‘Victory Lap’ is Propagandhi at their most fierce and, arguably, their best. The album’s title track, and the first single, rattles in the group’s signature snarl and urgency of politically punk rock. Victory Lap seems to arrive at a time when political voice and public opinion have never appeared more fractured and inconsistent—the track is a statement toward that.

The new song is also the first time Propagandhi fans are welcomed to new guitarist, Sulynn Hago—joining the seminal group after replacing longtime member, David Guillas, who still makes some appearances on the new record. Hago joined Propagandhi after the band put a call out for auditions and received more than 400 submissions.

Propagandhi were last on our shores back in 2014 for an extensive national tour behind their sixth LP, ‘Failed States’—playing regions far and wide including a rare stop in Geelong and the Gold Coast. No tour dates are currently planned for the band, hopefully they’ll do a victory lap of Australia sometime soon.
