Retro Culture’s New Track Will Have You “Calling” For More!

Retro Culture, the solo project of Melbourne-based producer Matt Connelly, has dropped his latest in a stream of releases this year, Calling. The track was co-produced with Sydney-based producer Jean Paul Fung (Client Liaison, Birds of Tokyo, Art Vs. Science), and features a slightly more epic sounding production than we’re used to from the young artist!

With its explosive choruses, Calling has a strong pop sound that’s an unusual move for Retro Culture. As Connelly himself said, “Most of the songs so far have had this chilled vibe to them and this was a chance to do something a little bigger and a little different”.

Calling definitely holds the elements of a great pop song, with its driving synthesised beat and incredibly catchy lyrics. The vocals hold a dramatic emotion which combines with the insistent rhythm of the song to create a sense of relentless frustration.

It’s unquestionably a strong choice for a break-up song, designed to be belted out at the top of your lungs after a few too many. If you’re in need of such a thing, I think you should check it out below!
