Fuzz Rock Intensifies On The Cherry Dolls’ ‘Black and Blue’
Melbourne’s loudest fuzz rockers The Cherry Dolls have returned with a hectic, psyched out rock jam, Black and Blue. Opening with brazen feedback and crunchy guitars, it’s a refreshing return to groove rock from the quartet.
Drawing influences from the likes of The Stooges and The Strokes, this tune takes on even more with what seems like the early days of Kasabian—swift and elongated vocal ranges complimented with a groovy indie-dance like bass riff.
The swooping, skin-shedding swagger of Black & Blue—which was recorded and produced with Alex Markwell (Delta Riggs, Pretty Littles) at The Aviary in Abbotsford and mixed by Michael Badger (King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard)—is just the latest taste of their deliciously intense oeuvre.
If you’re out and about in Melbourne this Saturday, The Cherry Dolls play the John Curtin Hotel in Carlton. We highly recommend you get along and check them out.
