Since humble beginnings, Melbourne four-piece The Harpoons have dramatically altered their sound. Gearing up to head out on the road next year, the group will be touring behind their infectious electro-pop single, Reassurance.
Brisbane is first up on the three-stop tour at Black Bear Lodge before heading to Sydney’s Lansdowne Hotel and wrapping up at Howler in their hometown of Melbourne. The Harpoons recently tore apart their Melbourne Music Week appearances so, if that’s any indication, these shows are sure to be wild.
Taking soul to the next level, The Harpoons make sophisticated, jittery dance music that’s ingrained in disco music. Their beats resemble the intelligence of Roland Tings, with the hushed soul aesthetics of The xx. ‘Falling For You’, the group’s much adored debut album, has become a very important stepping stone in their sonic progression—moving toward more dance-appropriate jams while somewhat retaining their jazz DNA.
