UKIYO Enlists Chymes For The Dreamy & Introverted ‘Go’

UKIYO sure knows how to pick them! At only 21-years of age, the young producer—real name Timothy Arnott—has brought on Chymes for his dreamy approximation of a meditative and expansive soundscape titled Go.

The producer first perked our ears with the lush Something Like This, which landed him some pretty whopping success. Now, he’s gone and done it again with a stunning new musical piece that further broadens his sonic palette. While his previous single featured AAA Backstage favourite FEELDS, UKIYO has enlisted one of our other favourite acts, Chymes.

The breathy, comforting vocals from the Chymes duo add a layer of quiet reassurance to the mix. UKIYO’s already grounded and incredibly hypnotic dreamland production has improved since the last time we heard from him. On Go, he seems to be taking cues from ambient influences—the crackle of the radio fuzz and the minuet classic references enhance the headier moments of the electronic bliss. Comparatively, the video clip is a real marvel of visual fidelity, pairing very well with the sonic movement of Go.

Go, according to the artist, is about the parallels of mending relationships, be that internally or externally.

Go was a track that came about after my first Melbourne show last year. Being up there is always a harsh reminder of how small we are.. the idea was centred around a feeling of adventure and the possibility of happiness out of sadness. It’s about fixing relationships, whether that be with yourself, someone you love, or something you love,” explains UKIYO.

UKIYO has a pair of live dates on the horizon. The first being a huge spot on the Groovin the Moo lineup followed an appearance at Perth’s Art Ball later in May.
