Dregg Get Even More Odd In New Single “Weirdos” & Video

dregg-promo
Melbourne’s finest purveyors of oddball hardcore Dregg are back with another bangin’ single Weirdos. Having started 2016 right by dropping the infectiously groovy Sorry Daddy and throwing some serious shade at Baby Boomers while doing so, the Melbourne quartet are back with a vengeance.

Wasting no time, Weirdos leaps out of the gates from the get go with its infectiously groovy intro riff exploding in your ears. The guitar immediately locks in with the drum and bass, creating an unstoppable audio juggernaut that moves relentlessly and aggressively forwards. The chunky guitar riffs are interspersed with violent harmonics, which add some spice to the meaty track.

It isn’t long before vocalist Chris Mackertich makes his presence known, his rage-filled vocals exploding onto the track. Combining the speed and flow of hip-hop with the aggression and rawness of hardcore, his unique vocal style melds perfectly with the instrumentation of Weirdos.

The new single is Dregg’s attack on the over sensitive and anti-progressive thinking public. Mackertich intends for the song to “break down any walls dividing sexual expression and hardcore”, and to make “the idea of being free to be yourself  that much more appealing”.

The accompanying music video for Weirdos is a visual representation of this mission, and allows Dregg and there backing weirdos to let their freak flags fly.

With the frantic energy of a hardcore video, Dregg have managed to fit in a range of sexual orientations, styles of fashion, music, interests, hobbies, and fetishes into the one video, creating an assault on the senses that’ll leave you reeling but definitely craving more.

Weirdos is set for release onFriday the 9th of December, a day before Dregg are set to take the stage at Invasion Fest, alongside some of Australia’s premier heavy acts. So crank Weirdos loud, and fly your weirdo flag high!
