DZ Deathrays Drop Frenetic New Single ‘Sideways’ Ahead of EU/UK Tour

Australian psych-punk powerhouse DZ Deathrays have unleashed their latest adrenaline-pumping single, ‘Sideways’, just days before they jet off for a string of European and UK festival dates. Released via their own imprint DZ Worldwide, the track delivers a raucous blend of distorted riffs, crashing percussion, and that trademark chaotic energy fans have come to love.

Fuelled by a dreamt-up guitar riff from Lachlan Ewbank, ‘Sideways’ leans into the band’s dance-punk origins with an unhinged, off-kilter rhythm that feels like a joyride on the edge of control. It arrives with a wild, tongue-in-cheek music video set on a scenic farm, directed by longtime collaborator James Latter and backed by Bundaberg Regional Council support

The release follows recent singles ‘Like No Other’ and ‘First Night Fever’, continuing a string of high-energy drops that nod to DZ Deathrays’ celebrated back catalogue, including landmark albums Bloody Lovely, Black Rat and the Positive Rising duology.

With shows lined up across Rock For People, Mighty Sounds, and 2000trees, plus headline gigs alongside Press Club, Battlesnake, and Mannequin Death Squad, the band are proving they’ve still got fuel in the tank — and then some.
