Hellions Drop New Single “Thresher” Ahead of New Album

Hellions Flare 2016

Hellions have teased fans with another killer single from their upcoming third studio album ‘Opera Oblivion’. Guitarist Mathew Gravolin explains the meaning behind their desolate contrastive new single Thresher, is about “existential disillusionment…the need for constant escape”.

Sonically, the single utilises a unique contrast between the light melody and dark lyrics, “The carousel slows/Reality starts to set in/My friends are climbing off”.  The band’s progressive sound is showcased in their latest single with their lighter upbeat sound, while still holding onto their raw, heavy roots.

Thresher has a more mellow approach compared to Quality Of Life, the album’s lead single which was a punchy post-hardcore anthem. The band’s latest release gives listeners a taste of their progression from their 2014 debut album ‘Die Young’ and 2015 album ‘Indian Summer’.

Gravolin stated the band’s goal in making ‘Opera Oblivion’ was to allow people to “to befriend them and remain with them long after its sounds fade out”.

Hellions’ third studio album ‘Opera Oblivion’ is set for release on Friday, 29th of July. The heavy hitters will kick off their headline Australian tour this month, starting in Melbourne, dates and info below!
