Leonard Cohen Passes Away, Aged 82
Legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen has passed away, aged 82. The news was confirmed in an official statement posted on his Facebook page.
“It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away. We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries. A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date. The family requests privacy during their time of grief,” the statement read.
The musician, most well-known for penning the lyrics to classic ballad Hallelujah, has had a musical career spanning five decades since the release of his first studio album in 1967. The singer was well-known for tackling tough topics through song including politics, sexuality, and social justice, but he was relatively unknown until the age of 50.
