The Stiffys Rise Again, Announcing National 3D Tour

Following the release of their acclaimed 2015 EP ‘ART ROCK ONE’, Melbourne cult-rockers The Stiffys have been working endlessly on new material. Touring with the likes of The Beards and David Liebe Hart, the group have now announced yet another extensive national tour.

With the upcoming release of the long awaited ‘ART ROCK TWO’ set for August, the art rockers will now be embarking on a massive 17 date national tour with a twist. In what is likely a first in Australian rock and roll history, The Stiffys will be playing their entire tour in 3D!

“We can’t wait for everyone to hear our new songs! It’s the first time we’ve recorded as a three piece and also the first time we weren’t allowed to bring drinks into the studio, and you can really hear the difference” drummer Adam Stagg explained.

You may be asking how this is going to work seeing as the band is already in 3D (duh!). What we know is that fans will receive a pair of 3D glasses on entry and that the show will provide an unparalleled visual experience. We can only assume that this will have something to do with the backdrop of the show or light show of some sort, but we’re sure it’s going to be amazing!

You may remember that The Stiffys used to be somewhat of a parody band in their early days, and bass player Jason Leigh has come out explaining the group’s artistic change of direction.

“We’ve decided to go full art rock – no more singing about stiffies, no more singing about coolboy stuff like skateboarding, just boundary pushing art. For us that obviously means exploring the third dimension,” said Leigh, “We tried to keep playing DJ shows but then I poured white wine into my laptop so yeah it’s been a good opportunity for reflection about what we’re doing and also the third dimension.”
