There’s No “Substitute” For Nina Las Vegas Live!
One-of-a-kind producer Nina Las Vegas is back with Substitute, an effervescent, rhythm-heavy collaboration with her fellow beatmaker and label-signee Swick.
Leading with an upbeat melody in hazy focus, the track delves into more complex rhythms and heavy production in the build-up to the chorus. Nina’s smooth vocal delivery shows impressive control and pop sensibility, leaving the melody uncomplicated and catchy.
Substitute is a energetic, effect-laden electro-pop extravaganza. It’s almost like a blend of a typical dance track with a game of Mario Kart on Nintendo, a style custom-made for her playful lyrics: “Switch the lights on, leave me sweating/Plug me in and turn me down/Fake your hands up, pull the smile off/Try to hear but hate my sound”.
After releasing her debut EP, playing Coachella, touring the UK and Europe, and taking a resident DJ slot on BBC Radio 1, Nina has started 2016 with a bang, and with an Australian tour kicking off at the end of the month, she’s not slowing down any time soon! In the meantime, check out the Substitute lyric video below.
