We’re Tripping On Jamie Lidell’s “Walk Right Back” Clip

Calling all lovers of soul and colour! In anticipation of his eighth studio album ‘Building A Beginning’, English soul man Jamie Lidell has released a mesmerising animated video for his single Walk Right Back! 

Walk Right Back begins as a brooding, atmospheric tapestry of synthesisers and a funky bass rhythm and drum beat combination instantaneously transforms it into a bonafide funk number. The energetic instrumental is the perfect partner to Lidell’s clean yet passionate vocals, leaving room for sultry vocal runs and later for a heavenly harmonic blend. The chorus is like a flashback to 2007 R’n’B – warm, soulful and angular – think Usher, Frank Ocean, and Bruno Mars stitched together with an old-school thread.

The animated Walk Right Back directed by LEO LYXXX is a psychedelic colour-trip, a perfectly artistic way to capture a child’s first memories and sensory experiences in the world – school books, travel destinations, and sporadic dream sequences, all captured in vivid, rapidly morphing pastel.
