Saviour Reunite With New Single & Tour Announcement
After calling it quits in 2014, Perth hardcore outfit Saviour have decided they’re not quite ready to completely close the door on their career. To the delight of many the 6-piece have released a new single along with a run of shows throughout February.
With Saviour always in the forefront of his mind, frontman Bryant Best has rallied up the crew and got the band back together. With three new band members and the special addition of Shontay Snow, we now have the fresh faced 6 sim of Saviour reincarnated, who’ll hopefully stick around for a while this time!
If their new single Lovers is anything to go by Saviour’s sound has been completely re shaped. Taking into account the band isn’t the same Saviour you knew a few years back, it’s important to listen in on this track with an open mind. Lovers is a soft tale, a love story about treating your lover with respect, with it’s lyrical context suggesting Best has experienced a few unfaithful partners. Clean and elegant vocals from Snow beautifully contrast the harshness and hoarseness of Best’s vocals, giving the track a special twist. The dual vocal parts sit atop beautiful melodic guitar tones and well-weighted drumming, making for a lullaby-like flood of emotions you didn’t even know you had inside you.
Lovers is nowhere near as heavy as Saviour was, with their new sound definitely leaning more towards ambient melodic hardcore than anything else. This is definitely not a bad thing, especially if you’re a bigger fan of bands such as Ambleside and early days of Being As An Ocean.
The new Saviour will be showcasing themselves on tour with Ocean Grove and Ambleside, kicking off on Friday 19th February at Brisbane’s The Brightside.
Give Lovers a listen and buy yourself a ticket. We guarantee you won’t regret it!
