This week marks 12 years since Yellowcard released their breakout single Ocean Avenue. To commemorate, the group have announced they’ll be releasing a new album later this year with Hopeless Records.

Yellowcard worked with Hopeless Records on past on albums ‘Southern Air’ and ‘When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes’, two albums which pleased fans and critics alike showing a maturity of the band and its themes.  If we’re in for more of this sound from Yellowcard, we’re keen.

Yellowcard’s breakout hit Ocean Avenue pays homage past, and what it was like to be young and in a loved hometown. The song garnered the group the MTV2 Award and 2004 MTV Video Music Award. The song peaked at 34 on the New Zealand charts and came in at 37 on the Billboard Charts.

While we wait for more information on the album, here’s five killer Yellowcard songs that didn’t appear on ‘Ocean Avenue’, because everyone has listened to ‘Ocean Avenue’.

5 – Lift A Sail from ‘Lift A Sail’

4 – Surface of the Sun from ‘Southern Air’

3 – For You, And Your Denial from ‘When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes’

2 – Afraid from ‘Paperwalls’

1  – Holly Wood Died from ‘Lights and Sounds’
