5 Albums Sunny Luwe is Obsessed With
Yugambah/Gold Coast-based soul/pop Wailwan artist and AAA fave, Sunny Luwe has unveiled her lively single ‘Animal Instinct’ – co-written by Matt Collins (WHARVES) and produced by multi-ARIA award-winning producer Konstantin Kersting (Budjerah, Spacey Jane, The Jungle Giants). To celebrate the release Sunny has shared with us 5 new albums she’s obsessed with!
This album has to win Album of the Year at the Grammys this coming November. Beyoncé slays. Her artistry – incredible. My favourite tracks off this work are ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Yaya’ (how weren’t these singles – also obsessed with the samples in ‘Yaya’). Beyoncé’s artistry, skill and excellence blow my mind with this work – plus I deeply admire how she used to her profile to elevate black country artists and have them chart for the first time. I love you, Queen Bee.
Another epic album, I particularly love RAYE’s advocacy, vulnerability and honesty. The sounds on this album are incredible, and my personal favourite tracks are: ‘Oscar Winning Tears’, ‘Ice Cream Man’ and ‘Environmental Anxiety’. I loved her recent release ‘Genesis’ too, and her ability to just say the shitty things, how they are is awesome. RAYE is such an incredible artist.
REALTED: Kyara Debuts with Electrifying Single ‘Yearn’, Ushering in a Bold New Voice in Indie Pop
An awesome album. G is such a talented musician, artist and songwriter and I have been loving this album so much. Combine that with their epic hustle and you just know that they are going to keep going from strength-to-strength. I also love the advocacy and awareness G does for non-binary, gender-non-conforming and queer folks. I love seeing these conversations happening, and people broadening their awareness and understand. Plus – G rocks.
All Attention On Your Emotions – Sahara Beck
Sahara truly is QLD’s darling. What a voice, what an album. Also, a must-see is her collaboration with Briefs Club. Such a fabulous show – an epic, fabulous live music video with killer tunes, spectacular performers and a stellar live band. My fave tracks from this album are ‘Trip’ and ‘Mr Breezy’ – pop perfection.
Enough of the Sweet Talk – Lime Cordiale
I absolutely love these fellas, their silly larikinsims but also the cheeky nature of their lyrics and tunes. The boys just got their latest vinyl printed on a low carbon pressing via Suitcase records which has 92% carbon than traditional vinyl = so cool! My fave tracks off the new album: ‘Facts of Life’, ‘Pedelstal’, ‘Imposter Syndrome’ and ‘Colin’.
