6 Reasons To Get Pumped For MMVAF

We know you’re still recovering from Splendour, but we’re here to give you a friendly reminder that the Maroochy Music and Visual Arts Festival is coming up very soon (August 22) and we couldn’t be more excited!

Here’s a rundown of why:

1. Flight Facilities have just been announced as headliners!

Woah. Way to out-do yourselves guys. MMVAF have managed to nab Sydney duo Flight Facilities amid their epic worldwide festival tour. The electronic duo are set to headline the one day festival and will be joining a list of impressive names taking over Maroochydore’s Horton Park Golf Course. With hits like ‘Crave You’, ‘Foreign Language’, and ‘Stand Still’, plus their acclaimed 2014 debut album Down to Earth under their belt, we definitely wont risk missing them.

2. The whole line-up is epic

Forget Splendour In The Grass, MMVAF is where it’s at. If you hate trawling through the never ending list of acts at big music festivals, Maroochy Fest is the place for you. With Brisbane locals like WAAX, DZ Deathrays and The Kite String Tangle reppin their home state, Melbourne’s Alpine and Harts, and Sydney’s Hermitude and One Day on the line-up, there’s no need to pick and choose, the hard work has been done for you.

3. And speaking of the line-up, there won’t be any of those pesky clashes!

All the bands will be playing on one stage, so you know what that means – no running around from stage to stage trying to see everyone. You can sit back, relax, and watch every band in full as they play one after the other. Phew.

4. Need a bit of culture, there’s also an art show

In between acts you can peruse a group of amazing visual artists in the festivals “open air art park”. With some artists all the way from the UK, the visual offerings will range from street art, inflatable installation art, painting, masks, and animation. That should keep you pretty occupied.

5. The day will be classy af

Just in case you still thought MMVAF will be a mini Splendour, the festival will have its very own Champagne and Oyster Garden. Ooo la la. You can sip some bubbly and suck on some oysters amongst the rolling grass of a golf course. If that’s not class then we’ve been watching the wrong movies.

6. It’s a one day festival!

One day, sure it’s short, but it means you don’t have to camp. And after Splendour this year, the idea of not having to pitch a tent in the mud and sleep in a puddle of water seems like heaven. You can enjoy the music, the art, and the atmosphere and still go home at the end of the day and have a shower. Now that’s living.
