AAA’s Brisbane Weekend Planner (16-18 Sept)
Every week the AAA squad laces up our Connies, Vanns, or Docs, smashes a few bevvies, and heads out to Brisbane’s various esteemed and divey live music venues to bring you honest accounts of what’s happening on our city’s stages. To help you decide who you’re catching live, we’re listing what we’re most looking forward to each week…and why!
Friday: Bring Me The Horizon @ The Riverstage
AAA Squad: Jack D & Dan D
Jack says, “Can’t wait to finally catch them live, it should be epic. ‘That’s The Spirit’ helped me actually discover them, plus Drown is my one my favourite songs from the past few years. I’ll be screaming like the rest of the 13-year-old girls when they walk onstage”.
Dan says, “I literally hate the new album, so I hope they give mostly old tracks a run. I want the old Ollie back, the new lyrics are bad to say the least”.
Pre-Gig Food & Drinks: QUT Botanic Bar, it’s like right outside The Riverstage.
Saturday: Beer InCider Experience
AAA Squad: Jack D & Dan D
Jack says, “This was one of my favourite events last year. I ate the most amazing beef-cheek burger, and had an amazing rocky-road flavoured pale ale…yeah that exists and it was delicious! Josh Pyke should be pretty good, but honestly I’m just keen to try some great super-boutique beers!”
Dan says, “I didn’t hear about this until this morning! But Jack’s pretty keen, so it must be alright”.
Pre-Gig Food & Drinks: Nah, at the event!
Saturday: City Calm Down @ Max’s Watts, Brisbane
AAA Squad: Ellen P
Ellen says, “I’m going ‘cause they’re like The Cure, but 50 per cent happier. Plus it’s going to be my first live review for AAA! And I hear Rabbit Run is a banger”.
Pre-Gig Food & Drinks: Beach Burrito, West End.
Saturday: Kilter @ Oh Hello!
AAA Squad: Annie P
Annie: After I interviewed him I thought his music was even more dope after I talked to him! His songs are complex so I’m interested to see how he pulls it all together”.
Pre-Gig Food & Drinks: Eleven Rooftop Bar, Fortitude Valley.
Sunday: I LOVE LIFE Festival @ The Triffid
AAA Squad: Vincent S
Vincent says, “It’s the best mixture of genres from the best mixture of bands. Plus it’s the next best thing to The Smith Street Band.”
Pre-Gig Food & Drinks: Nah, at the venue!
