Adelaide’s Horror My Friend Will Melt Your Face In New Single “DIYS”
After a pretty fruitful 2016, which saw the release of their debut album ‘Stay In, Do Nothing’ and plenty of touring, Adelaide trio Horror My Friend are starting 2017 with a bang thanks to their fresh single DIYS.
The first single since the release of their debut album almost exactly a year ago sees the rockers play with a much punchier and heavier sound. Where the album’s lead singles Mazes and Stay In comfortably chugged along with upbeat rhythms and the occasional burst of Nirvana-esque guitar tones, DIYS is a complete different beast.
Opening with aggression similar to any track on Violent Soho’s ‘WACO’, frontman Tom Gordon steadily transitions his voice from an angsty drone to all-out vocal attack on the microphone. The sporadic and explosive twin vocal and guitar parts are face-melting, making it the perfect track to trash your limbs along and to annoying any sh*tty neighbours or work colleagues.
It’s a little bit DZ Deathrays, Spiderbait, Violent Soho, and early British India, and at the end of the day a fierce but mature direction for the rising Adelaide trio.
