Alex The Astronaut Unleashes Powerful Single ‘Road Rage’ Ahead of New EP

Australian singer-songwriter Alex the Astronaut has dropped a blazing new single, Road Rage, diving into the raw frustrations many felt in a post-COVID world. The high-energy track, released today, sets the tone for Alex’s upcoming EP, RAGE AND ALL ITS FRIENDS, slated for November 22, 2024.

Road Rage captures Alex’s own experiences of anger and discontent after the pandemic. Reflecting on personal and societal challenges, Alex admits to feeling an intense dissatisfaction with life, relationships, and career direction, emotions that found a surprising outlet in traffic confrontations.

After COVID, I noticed I was really angry at the world, I wasn’t where I wanted to be in my relationships, career, or life in general, and I started taking it out on people on the road. I know, not great. My Grandma would not be proud.” – Alex The Astronaut.

Produced by Gordi, the track’s pulsing production reflects the chaotic yet cathartic nature of the song, capturing Alex’s inner tension and spirited humour.

“I remember laughing when I realised what was happening. I’d beeped at a man who stopped in the middle of an intersection, and he gave me the finger. That’s when ‘Road Rage’ was born. It was chaotic but so fun working with Gordi. She flew away, and a week later, I had this amazing track in my inbox.” – Alex The Astronaut.

The EP promises more deeply personal narratives, exploring themes of anger, grief, and self-discovery after Alex’s recent autism diagnosis and a significant breakup. Featuring collaborations with music heavyweights like Paul Kelly, Lisa Mitchell, and Benjamin Francis Leftwich, this latest project marks a compelling new chapter in Alex the Astronaut’s evolving sound and storytelling.
