Allday Jumps On The Trap-Rap Train, Headed For You!

Allday Trap Train

Australia’s most self-assured rapper Allday has apparently been rather busy lately. Aside from a set at Sydney hip-hop festival Come Together, Allday has been spending all day, every day working on the follow-up to his 2014 debut, ‘Startup Cult’.

Luckily however, there is light at the end of the tunnel for Allday’s patient fans, having recently dropped a new single and announcing a nationwide tour. The latest single Sides may come as something of a shock to some fans, as it features a fairly uncharacteristic musical style for the Adelaide emcee.

Sides sees Allday give trap (the style of rap that has been sweeping the airwaves lately) a shot, but whether intentionally or unintentionally, his “switching of sides” ends up sounding unmistakably similar to the American pioneers of the sub-genre such as Future and Drake.

Essentially, Sides is a replica of tracks that have been made before, which is a shame as Allday has made some really worthwhile music. Past songs where Allday’s talent shines include Girl In The SunGirls In Jeans, and You Always Know The DJ. Tracks like these reveal Allday’s skilled production techniques, catchy instrumentals, and unique vocal delivery, whereas Sides just comes off as a cheap carbon-copy of current Top 40 tracks.

Time will tell if Allday’s latest musical shift has paid off or not. In the meantime, fans can look forward to Allday’s first big tour in a while. Check out the new single and tour dates below!
