It’s A Wrap! Here’s What Went Down At The APRA Awards

courtney barnett apra

Courtney Barnett and Tame Impala have continued their reign over the Australian music industry following their success at the APRA awards in Sydney earlier this week.

Barnett took home the award for Songwriter Of The Year, a sweet addition to her four 2015 ARIAs including Breakthrough Artist and Best Female Artists.

Tame Impala scored the Song Of The Year award for Let It Happen to add to their five ARIAs for ‘Currents’, including Album Of The Year and Best Group.

LA-based songwriter Alex Hope won the award for Breakthrough Songwriter Of The Year in recognition of her work on Troye Sivan’s debut EP ‘Fun’ and collaborations with Jack Antonoff, Broods, Tina Arena, Taylor Henderson, Jessica Mauboy, and Guy Sebastian.

Peking Duk’s Take Me Over feat. SAFIA snared the awards for Dance Work Of The Year and Most Played Australian Work, and Aussie legends Cold Chisel received the Ted Albert Award For Outstanding Services To Australian Music.

The awards night featured several remarkable performances including San Cisco covering Courtney Barnett’s Pedestrian At Best, Delta Riggs taking on Tame Impala’s Let It Happen, and Bertie Blackman performing Urthboy’s Daughter of the Light with a full choir.
