Bad Boy Zayn’s Bearded Rebellion Against 1D

One Direction, or North Korea? Honestly, it’s difficult to tell which has less freedom with news emerging that ex-band member Zayn Malik wasn’t even allowed to grow a beard! Cue the violins.

“There were certain restrictions in terms of the way we could come outside of that young teen look,” Zayn revealed in a recent interview.

“Mainly my beard… I wasn’t allowed to keep it.”

Eventually however, he rebelled and grew it anyway! The hipsters would be proud. Not to mention that his sexy blonde barnet also would have been prohibited! Honestly, some men just want to watch the world burn.

That said, Zayn clarified that he was never unappreciative of the 1D experience. “No one can ever say I was ungrateful, even though it sort of comes across that way when I mention that I was frustrated with the band. That’s not the case at all.”
