Bakers Eddy Share Powerful New Single ‘Dust On My Brain’ and Announce New EP

Melbourne-based indie rockers Bakers Eddy have returned with their compelling new single ‘Dust On My Brain’, offering fans an emotionally charged glimpse into their forthcoming EP I’m Doing Better, set for release on June 6, 2025.

Written in the wake of a transformative writing trip to the US — including stops at SXSW in Austin and New Colossus Festival in New York — ‘Dust On My Brain’ dives deep into themes of mental health and personal struggle. Frontman Ciarann Babbington penned the track during a particularly dark period, channeling feelings of isolation and self-doubt into a raw, cathartic anthem. The song became a turning point, reigniting his creative spark and laying the foundation for the rest of the EP.

Following on from the well-received single ‘Manners Street’, a heartfelt tribute to the band’s Wellington roots, ‘Dust On My Brain’ showcases Bakers Eddy’s knack for blending vulnerability with energetic indie rock grit.

“Dust On My Brain comes from a feeling of having the walls close in around you, and being trapped in self destructive cycles. I wasn’t sleeping. I wasn’t going out, seeing people. Just spinning myself out with negativity and stress and making bad coping decisions.

I don’t tend to write songs when my mental health is struggling, but this one kind of poured out when I was at my lowest and ended up being the catalyst for change, which I’m very grateful for. It made me excited to make music, so most of the EP was written because of ‘Dust’.”Ciarann Babbington, Baker Eddy.

Co-produced by the band and Vincent McIntyre, mixed by Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, The Strokes), and mastered by Emily Lazar (Foo Fighters, Coldplay), the upcoming EP promises to be a powerful next chapter for Bakers Eddy.
