Benjamino Unveils Soulful New Single ‘Whataboutism’
Indie-soul artist Benjamino has returned with a brand-new single, Whataboutism, a deeply introspective track that explores the weight of anxiety and self-doubt. Released today, the song acts as a musical refuge, offering a poignant reminder that our inner fears don’t always reflect reality.
A master of crafting emotionally rich, groove-infused soundscapes, Benjamino has spent years shaping his signature style—one that has resonated with fans worldwide. From early beginnings as a music teacher to producing for high-profile artists, he has carved a path that blends lush harmonies, dynamic instrumentation, and profound lyricism. His previous work has earned recognition on MTV Australia & NZ, national radio, and even a supporting slot for Coldplay in 2024.

Whataboutism opens with a deep, pulsing bassline and hypnotic beats, setting a tense, immersive tone. The track builds and recedes like the waves of a panic attack, with Benjamino’s layered vocals offering a sense of comfort and clarity. Written during a time of personal discovery, the song reflects on his journey with gender fluidity and pansexuality, confronting the internalized fears that often cloud self-worth.
“I wrote the song after experiencing a number of personal discoveries – mainly gender fluidity and pansexual awakening. Making these discoveries in my late 20’s, at a much more progressive time in history, had me questioning my worthiness amongst this community… A tendency we all have is to project our greatest fears onto those around us, which is more often than not unfounded.” – Benjamino.
Following February’s release of ‘9 Minutes’, this single is part of a monthly rollout leading up to his debut album, Cucino, set to be his most ambitious project yet.
