BIGSOUND 2025 Announces Goolwal Goolwal Program Celebrating First Nations Music and Culture

Australia’s leading music industry gathering, BIGSOUND, has announced the return of its highly celebrated Goolwal Goolwal program for 2025 – a vibrant showcase of Indigenous culture, creativity, and music. Translating to “Big Sound” in the traditional Yuggera language, Goolwal Goolwal has become a cornerstone of the festival’s programming, offering a dedicated space for First Nations artists and industry leaders to share their stories, art, and knowledge.

Set in the heart of Fortitude Valley, Brisbane from 2–5 September, Goolwal Goolwal 2025 will host an array of panels, performances, workshops, and cultural experiences. The program kicks off with a BIGSOUND Eve Welcome Event at the Goolwal Garden on 1 September, inviting delegates and guests to connect before the conference begins.

This year’s lineup features major highlights including Now And Forever: BIGSOUND Edition from Bad Apples Music, celebrating a decade of amplifying First Nations talent, and an inspiring keynote conversation between BRIGGS and Kobie Dee. Acclaimed artist BARKAA will also lead two pivotal panel discussions exploring parenthood and advocacy in the music industry.

The Brunswick Street Mall stage will host dynamic live performances, including showcases from Awesome Black and The Block Party Connect: From Boorloo to Meanjin, presented by FNFOCUS & FLEWNT.

Curated by a team of First Nations creatives, the Goolwal Goolwal program underscores BIGSOUND’s commitment to honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices while fostering cultural exchange and industry opportunities.

BIGSOUND 2025 runs 2–5 September in Brisbane. For details on the Goolwal Goolwal program, visit bigsound.org.au/first-nations-house.
