BIGSOUND Unveils Massive 2023 Artist Showcase Lineup

Building upon the monumental initial announcement of conference speakers, an assembly of influential pioneers from various corners of the world, BIGSOUND has astounded the masses by revealing an awe-inspiring lineup of more than 140 talented artists. From the vibrant streets of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, this four-day extravaganza will serve as a melting pot of extraordinary musical talents, promising an unforgettable experience from the 5th to the 8th of September.

Amidst a staggering influx of applications from artists spanning the vast landscapes of Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, BIGSOUND’s bookers faced the Herculean challenge of distilling an unprecedented record of over 1300 requests into a carefully curated selection of 141 acts. These exceptional artists have been meticulously chosen based on their ability to generate an electrifying buzz that reverberates throughout the nation, establishing them as the indisputable frontrunners in the realm of musical innovation and creativity.

“Once again this year we had the unenviable task of reading, listening to and enjoying several thousand BIGSOUND applications from all over the country and world. While this is definitely our favourite time of the year, because we get to listen to so much amazing music, it can be our least favourite as well. As bookers we have to make the hard decision of whittling down these acts which felt like an impossible task given the talent in front of us!

“We feel this year’s lineup is one of the strongest we’ve ever seen showcase at BIGSOUND, which makes the task harder than ever before. The future of music in Australia is continuing on its upward trajectory and with this lineup, it’s obvious it will continue to do so.”  – Bigsound Cp-Programming Lead and Sunroom Co-Director Ruby-Jean McCabe.

Celebrating its remarkable 22nd year, BIGSOUND has spared no effort in its relentless pursuit of presenting the absolute cream of the crop among emerging acts. With a resolute commitment to inclusivity, this extraordinary event boasts an impeccable representation from all states and territories, as well as an impressive gathering of artists hailing from regional areas, remote communities, and even those journeying across the pond. BIGSOUND stands as a beacon, illuminating the vibrant diversity and boundless talent within the musical landscape, uniting artists from far and wide in a collective showcase of awe-inspiring artistry.

Embracing the profound richness of Australia’s First Nations talent, BIGSOUND 2023 will illuminate the stage with an intensified focus on these exceptional artists. Showcasing the brilliance of 27 of the nation’s finest emerging talents, this lineup encapsulates the extraordinary diversity within the Indigenous music scene. From the captivating hip-hop stylings of Miss Kaninna hailing from Melbourne/Naarm, to the soaring melodies of rising country sensation Loren Ryan, and the velvety-smooth sounds of Dean Brady, this immersive experience promises to be a mesmerizing journey. Prepare to be entranced by the enchanting performances of The Merindas, J-MILLA, CLOE TERARE, Tjaka, Kobie Dee, and the awe-inspiring Southeast Desert Metal—the world’s most isolated heavy metal band. Together, they represent the soul-stirring and trailblazing spirit of Australia’s First Nations musical landscape, painting a vibrant tapestry of talent and cultural expression.

For almost a quarter of a century BIGSOUND has been dedicated to highlighting and nurturing the monumental talent embedded within Australia. Over 22 years, more than 1500 artists have showcased their music to more than 25,000 of the world’s most important and influential music industry figures, with artists like Tones & I, Flume, Tash Sultana, Courtney Barnett, Gang of Youths, HOLY HOLY, Rufus du Sol, DMA’s, A.B.
