Blue Vedder Return with New Single, ‘Freaking Out’
Naarm/Melbourne-based dream-pop outfit Blue Vedder have made a powerful return with new single, Freaking Out. Known for their ability to craft immersive soundscapes, Blue Vedder’s latest single features a soaring chorus and a compelling blend of light and dark elements, showcasing the band’s evolving sound. The accompanying music video, directed by Melbourne filmmaker Bryce TM, is set to drop next week, promising to visually capture the song’s intense emotions.
Freaking Out has been a fan favourite at live shows, and after extensive work in the studio, it has been transformed into a track that captures the feeling of frustration and confusion. Vocalist and guitarist Seth Hancock describes the song as a reflection of the struggle to reconnect with reality.

“It’s a song about feeling frustration and confusion, someone who might be struggling to grasp reality again. We spent a lot of time crafting the song and trying to express the emotion I was feeling at the time. The song reflects Blue Vedder’s original sound with guitar pads, and shoegazey guitar sections, but is infused with more rock guitar and catchy lines, and influences from artists including Wolf Alice, Radiohead, and Ride.”
Blue Vedder closed out 2023 on a high, with performances at Yours & Owls Festival and Spilt Milk. Their previous single, Leather, gained traction with some of hinting at a promising year ahead for the band.
