Bon Iver Returns with New EP ‘SABLE’
Bon Iver has made a powerful comeback with SABLE, the project’s first EP in 15 years. The three-track release marks Bon Iver’s first new material in over five years and serves as an intimate reflection of Justin Vernon’s personal journey through healing and self-discovery.
Each song on SABLE tells a different chapter in Vernon’s life. Opening track “THINGS BEHIND THINGS BEHIND THINGS” was written in 2020, during a time of deep uncertainty for the artist, while “S P E Y S I D E” offers a moment of clarity and apology from 2021, created during a retreat in Key West. The most recent track, “AWARDS SEASON,” born in 2023, reflects on major life changes, with lyrics shaped by Vernon’s walks around Lake of the Isles in Minneapolis.

Produced alongside Jim-E Stack, the EP features contributions from Bon Iver regulars such as Eli Teplin and Rob Moose. Stripping down to core elements—Vernon’s voice and guitar—the EP returns to the minimalist roots that originally defined the Bon Iver sound.
With SABLE, Bon Iver has crafted a deeply personal reset, exploring darkness and transformation, signalling a new chapter in the celebrated artist’s career.
