Bon Iver Unveils Double Single ‘If Only I Could Wait’ ft. Danielle Haim and ‘Walk Home’ Ahead of New Album

Bon Iver has returned with two stunning new singles, If Only I Could Wait ft. Danielle Haim and Walk Home, offering a deeper look into the forthcoming album, SABLE, fABLE, set for release on April 11. Marking Bon Iver’s first album in six years, SABLE, fABLE explores the transformation of love, shifting from darkness to light, solitude to connection.

The emotional weight of these tracks perfectly encapsulates the album’s evolving narrative. Walk Home radiates passion and intimacy, with frontman Justin Vernon singing about shedding inhibitions in a moment of desire. In contrast, If Only I Could Wait is a haunting duet with Danielle Haim, where two voices intertwine to express the exhaustion that can follow the initial euphoria of love.

“For the second look into fABLE, it couldn’t be a single; it had to be a double. First, ‘Walk Home’ is a romp where you can’t wait to pull your clothes off fast enough and jump inside bed with your one true lover. And then – the two of singles – ‘If Only I Could Wait.’ A duet. A bilateral crying question. How long can the two of us hang on to each other?”Bon Iver.

Produced by Vernon and Jim-E Stack, much of the album was recorded at Vernon’s April Base studio in Wisconsin, which recently reopened after a long renovation. Bon Iver introduced the tracks via a unique live-stream experience, using a trail camera feed set up in the Wisconsin wilderness.

With SABLE, fABLE on the horizon, Bon Iver continues to push artistic boundaries, blending raw emotion with intricate storytelling.
