Bootleg Rascal Drop Genre-Bending Party Anthem ‘Crying For The Weekend’

Yugambeh/Gold Coast genre-hoppers Bootleg Rascal are back with their latest summer-ready anthem Crying For The Weekend, a bass-heavy, soul-soaked banger crafted for festival fields, sticky dancefloors, and late-night escapades.

Produced and mixed by Matty Madeit (JK-47, Logan Priest, Nerve) and mastered by Ian Pritchett (Angus and Julia Stone, Boo Seeka), the track opens with dubby textures and explodes into chaotic euphoria. Drawing on their signature blend of hip-hop, soul, indie, and electronic flavours, Crying For The Weekend captures the dizzy high of chasing weekend freedom and the crashing lows that follow.

“It’s an ode to all the weekend warriors. The ones who slog it out all week at work, to blow it all on the weekend. There are moments of self-reflection, alluding to a growing disillusionment with the never-ending party lifestyle. Perhaps a part of us wants it to end, while another part of us wants it to last forever. At times we struggle to recognise the man in the mirror, but ultimately we accept who he is. One more for the road?”Jimmy Young, Bootleg Rascal.

Bootleg Rascal have been on a tear with global tours across the UK, Europe and New Zealand, plus a sold-out national BOOTY BLOCK PARTY tour. They’ve also hit major festivals and supported reggae royalty Steel Pulse.

Crying For The Weekend is available now, everywhere.
