Bootleg Rascal Drop Self-Titled Album and Announce Aussie & NZ Tour Dates
Gold Coast’s favourite party starters Bootleg Rascal have officially released their long-awaited self-titled fourth album, Bootleg Rascal — a bold, sun-soaked collection that captures everything fans have come to love about the genre-blending duo.
Across eleven tracks, the record showcases Bootleg Rascal at their most confident and creative yet. Produced by longtime collaborator Caleb Tasker (The Terrys, Rum Jungle) and mixed by Ian Pritchett (Angus & Julia Stone, Boo Seeka), the album moves seamlessly between groove-laden alt-rock, soulful hip hop, and cinematic soundscapes, all tied together by the band’s trademark optimism and charm.
From the energetic pulse of “Oti” featuring Danté Knows, to the smooth swagger of “Drip Your Love” with Zaya, the album is packed with dynamic moments. Other highlights include the heartfelt “Street Shark”, the funk-driven “Sapphire Boogie”, and the dub-tinged closer “Crying For The Weekend.”
“This album feels like it’s been 12 years in the making. All the gigs we’ve played all around the world, all the songs we’ve written, all the adventures we’ve shared, are all building blocks of this latest record. It’s the first proper full-length album of new songs we’ve released since ‘Anonimo’ back in 2018. I think this record is a great representation of the band as a whole. I think if you’ve ever had fun at a live show or enjoyed listening to our music over the years, you’ll love this record. That’s also why we felt it was fitting to make this one self-titled. You never know when your last record will happen, but if this is it, I can die a happy man.”
To celebrate, Bootleg Rascal will hit the road for a string of Australian and New Zealand tour dates, including a special album launch party at Bootleggers in Newtown on October 31.
