Bootleg Rascal Drop Wild New Music Video for ‘Sapphire Boogie’ Ahead of Expansive Australian & New Zealand Tour
Party-starting favourites Bootleg Rascal have unveiled the highly anticipated music video for their recent single ‘Sapphire Boogie’, bringing the track’s cocaine-cowboy energy to life in a surreal, dream-like clip.
Directed by Hamish Stephen (Freddy Crabs, Danté Knows), the video was shot between Good Loco Studios in Marrickville and Websters Bar in Newtown, capturing two sharp-dressed “cowboys” as they stumble from whiskey-soaked line dancing into a kaleidoscope of euphoric and uneasy visions. With clever use of green screen, strobe, and slow-shutter effects, the visuals mirror the song’s groove-driven riffs and rustic guitars, transporting fans deep into the world of ‘Sapphire Boogie’.

Guitarist Jimmy Young explained the inspiration behind the concept:
“Sapphire Boogie was born on a writing trip to Sapphire Beach, and it felt like the perfect setting for a track that blurs reality a little. We’d been listening to Paul Cauthen’s Cocaine Country Dancing and loved that wild, cocaine-cowboy energy, so we ran with it – leaning into the imagery and letting it shape the vibe of the song and video. For us, it’s about that point where a night out shifts from ordinary to otherworldly, and you’re not quite sure if you’ve stumbled into heaven, hell, or just the land of boogie.”
Fresh from a relentless touring run, Bootleg Rascal will soon hit the road again with an expansive Australian and New Zealand tour featuring both free-entry and ticketed shows, plus headline festival slots at Oktoberfest and the Dunedin Beer Festival.
