Ball Park Music Hit Homerun With New Party Anthem
Brisvegas quintet Ball Park Music are back after a two-year hiatus, and their second new single Nihilist Party Anthem doesn’t disappoint. The song lives up to its name, covering heavy emotional lyrics in pretty pop wrapping paper and finishing it off with their signature rock edge.
The combination of a distorted bass and keyboard motif, electric guitar accents, frontman Sam Cromack’s carefree vocals, and an absorbing breakdown lead by a synthesiser whirlwind makes the track a definite winner. There’s something weird and wonderful about the upbeat crunchy bass riff beneath the irresistibly honest lyrics, “I’m a nihilist ’cause life is awful and you know it”.
“When I say “Life is awful”, I don’t see it as a selfish statement that pertains only to me…I see it as a shared thing. I am sharing this awful life with everyone. I’m a cat in a cowboy hat and this is my Nihilist Party Anthem,” said Cromack.
With a new album set to drop in the next few months, the Brissie alt-pop heroes have already sold-out their three warmup tour dates, so most fans will have to hope they don’t clash with another amazing act at Splendour.
