Indie Newcomers The Opera Comic Drop Freakish Debut Track

There’s a new British indie band on the scene, and they’ve dropped a new song to swoon over! We Are The Freaks is The Opera Comic’s debut track, and it comes with a throwback indie feel that you won’t be able to shake off.

Opening with a catchy high-pitched electronic riff that builds to a screech, the track then bursts into the (unsurprising) catchphrase “we are the freaks”. You immediately get the feeling you’ve heard it all before, and The Opera Comic do well to put their own spin on such a familiar sound.

Featuring sweet chiming guitars swirling around a solid drum beat, the track will have you moving in no time at all. The vocals strike a delicate balance between lyric and melody, providing a strong yet particularly eccentric element to the tune that isn’t quite what you’d expect coming from an indie band. Needless to say, you’ll have the chorus “we can’t get by being ourselves/and we can’t get by with someone else” lodged in our brains for days.

The Opera Comic made waves ahead of their debut release, stirring up a fuss with a mysterious flyer and poster campaign to announce their arrival back home, and then dropped this catchy tune. We’ll be keeping an ear out to hear what’s next from this 5-piece.
