Canadian Woman Dies After Falling Ill at Tomorrowland 2025 Festival in Belgium

Tragedy has struck at Tomorrowland 2025, with Belgian authorities confirming the death of a 35-year-old Canadian woman who became unwell during the festival’s opening night in Boom, near Antwerp.

According to prosecutors in Antwerp, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the woman’s death. Festival organisers stated she received first aid on site before being transported to hospital, where she sadly passed away.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of this tragedy,” said Tomorrowland spokesperson Debby Wilmsen in a statement. “Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Tomorrowland, widely regarded as one of the world’s biggest and most iconic electronic music festivals, draws hundreds of thousands of fans from around the globe. This year’s edition, featuring headline acts such as David Guetta, Lost Frequencies, and Charlotte de Witte, had already faced challenges in the lead-up to the event, including a fire that destroyed its main stage. In a remarkable effort, the stage was rebuilt overnight with the help of Metallica’s touring rig, allowing the festival to proceed as planned.

At this stage, the exact circumstances surrounding the woman’s illness remain unclear. Local reports suggest emergency services responded promptly, and festival organisers have emphasised their commitment to attendee safety.

As the music continues at Tomorrowland, the global dance music community mourns the loss of one of its own. Our deepest condolences go out to her family, friends, and all affected by this heartbreaking incident.
