CC:DISCO! Talks Curating Red Bull Back2Beyond Sydney 2025 Lineup

Red Bull Back2Beyond is set to make its highly anticipated Australian debut in Sydney/Eora on Saturday, 15 November 2025, with internationally acclaimed DJ and curator CC:DISCO! leading the charge. The global Red Bull event, which has already made waves in Paris and Detroit, will bring its unique back-to-back format to Sydney’s Roundhouse, featuring an all-Australian lineup handpicked by CC:DISCO!. In this exclusive interview, she opens up about curating the Red Bull Back2Beyond Sydney 2025 lineup, her personal connections with Moktar, RONA. and Ayebatonye, and what fans can expect from a night of unpredictable collaborations and nonstop dance floor energy.

Congratulations on curating the first Australian edition of Red Bull Back2Beyond! For those who might be new to the concept, can you tell us what makes this event so unique?

Thank you, it’s nice to be asked. Certainly, it’s a new concept of taking b2b culture to the next level. Basically it will be a round robin style with different set up and stages . I will start the night and it will follow around stages everyone going b2b and then me ending again b2b. Something different to your normal gig for sure.

You’ve handpicked Moktar, RONA., and Ayebatonye for the very first Australian Red Bull Back2Beyond. What drew you to these artists, and what made them the perfect fit for this event?

Well where do I start, each of them I have fond memories with, just last month I had Moktor over to my place and I cooked for him and it was lovely as we hadn’t spent much time together apart from stage changeovers so was nice to sit in my backyard in lisbon and talk shittt. I love his productions and think this is perfect to work with people you might not expect.

Rona… the first time I met her,  she told me she jumped the fence at one of my gigs as it sold out and really wanted to get in and since then I’ve had mad respect for her. Also have also become friends recently and it’s been super nice hanging out with her when I’ve been visiting home. We have spent a lot of time together recently so she was top of my mind and I think will be a great pairing.

Ayebatonye , god i love her. We met when she needed a lift to lost paradise so we drove down together and got to know each other on the drive, I’ve seen her play so many times, had her on my radio show , been front row punter when I’ve had the chance to party myself , we got history , lots of it. And when I think of Sydney I think of her so it was an easy choice.

The Back2Beyond format is all about back-to-back sets and unexpected pairings. How do you prepare for something so unpredictable, and what excites you most about this approach?

You really can’t tbh but I play so many genres and in Lisbon I even have an alias CC:TURBO I go under and do a charity event at the iconic outra cena in lisbon and its two nights a year  you’ll see me play 7 hours full turbo from techno , dubstep, grime, hard italo , 150 bpm percussive . So having that twice a year raw dogging 95% unplayed tunes gives me a chance to flex the hard style which makes me ready to play anything.

Lost of b2b backs I’ve done have been super last minute on the spot jobs in europe and even big festivals like glasto last min deciding to play b2b hahah Some being with Haai, Dennis Sulta, Mall grab, Seinfeld and you really just have to go in and ride the wave of the other person and not compete its been really fun to challenge myself in that way but i dont do them in Aus much so this is rare one off.

In your own words, you’ve said DJs should never stop learning from each other. What do you personally hope to learn from these collaborations on the night?

I think I really like learning how people get into their flow and also building a night. I think so nice to learn how others do it. Music is the main thing I want to learn. I love playing with someone and that moment when I’m like “wtf is this track” and then finding something to complement it. Then asking for 45 track ids after hahah.

After playing and curating events around the world, what does it mean for you to bring Back2Beyond to Sydney/Eora for the first time, especially with an all-Australian lineup?

It’s great to be part of something new, and also be able to highlight the talent we have here. All people talk about is how much talent is from Aus in the eu and it would be nice to have that pride in Aus with their own artists as I also believe we have a crazy amount to talent for such a small country in the scale of it all.

Something different, unexpected and mistakes will happen but often they are magic in djing. Something you think is a mistake will end being the moment of the night.

Red Bull Back2Beyond has already made its mark in Paris and Detroit. How do you hope the Sydney edition will stand out, and what lasting impact do you want this event to have on the Australian electronic music community?

The 4 Djs you never knew you’d see back2back, I did this on purpose because I saw other events had people they had history playing with and Sydney was a good chance to raw dog it and get way more unpredictable.

Seeing different DJs from different scenes and crowds from different genres meeting is quite something, sometimes events like this you might go for one dj but end loving all the others more and that’s exciting . Also not to mention a shazam a thon cos we all love to discover new tunes, we are done with one hour banger sets. Crowds are way more educated than they deserve more than just hits they can hear from any dj so this is something that you wont get anywhere else so come with an open musical mind and we will provide the moments.
