Cedarsmoke Paint Emotion in Every Colour on New Album ‘Under The Rainbow’

Brisbane/Meanjin indie-folk outfit Cedarsmoke return with their stunning third album, Under The Rainbow. Rich in colour, emotion and poetic depth, the record explores the full spectrum of human experience through ten vivid, colour-driven songs.
Under The Rainbow marks Cedarsmoke’s most ambitious step yet. Recorded at Incremental Studios with long-time collaborator Cam Smith, the album blends organic instrumentation — acoustic guitars and piano — with electronic textures, modular synths and atmospheric loops.

“‘Under The Rainbow’ is a concept album that interprets the emotional spectrum of colour through the lens of colour psychology. It marks our most ambitious step yet, blending organic instruments with electronic textures to create a palette as diverse and fluid as the colours it represents.”
Each track embodies a unique emotional shade, from the dark humour of ‘Don’t Fear The Reaper’ to the melancholic glow of ‘Picasso Blue’ and the meditative calm of ‘Be Here Now’. The result is a record that finds beauty in both chaos and calm, tracing the cycles of life with poetic grace.
Almost a decade into their journey, Cedarsmoke continue to evolve as one of Brisbane’s most compelling indie voices, turning introspection into art and colour into sound.
Under The Rainbow is out everywhere now, with an album launch at The Junk Bar, Brisbane on November 29.
