Charlie Pittman Releases New Single ‘death row’ Ahead of Forthcoming EP and Australian Tour
Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Charlie Pittman has unveiled his brand-new single ‘death row’, the latest glimpse into his highly anticipated upcoming EP okay.again?, set for release on Friday, September 19. The single showcases Pittman’s trademark blend of indie rock and alt-pop, paired with raw and vulnerable lyricism.
Co-written with London collaborators Itamar Lapidot (Good Neighbours, Raye, Joel Corey) and Francesca Morris, death row explores the haunting space between knowing a relationship is ending and having the courage to confront it.

“death row was the first song I wrote for this project before I knew how the songs would all piece together. It begins the narrative of the EP which is at the end of one relationship before the EP takes us through a journey of a relationship cycle. death row is about that feeling where you know a relationship is coming to an end, but the conversation hasn’t been had. There’s an element of guilt about keeping feelings to yourself and the feeling that break ups would be easier if someone cheated rather than two people just drifting away or losing feelings. The metaphor of death row felt like a powerful image with me being painted as the executioner” – Charlie Pittman.
The single is accompanied by a live performance video filmed in Melbourne, capturing the raw emotion of the track.
‘death row’ sets the stage for Pittman’s Australian ‘okay.again?’ tour, kicking off September 20 at The Workers Club in Melbourne before hitting Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth. He’ll also appear at SXSW Sydney before heading to the UK to support The Manatees and perform at Live At Leeds Festival in November.
With its confessional songwriting and anthemic sound, death row signals Pittman’s most honest and compelling work yet.
