Cheeky Leash Release Powerful New Single ‘Change’
Wollongong indie four-piece Cheeky Leash are keeping the momentum rolling after a standout BIGSOUND 2025 debut, returning with their brand-new single and video, ‘Change’.
Recorded at Sonora Studios with producer Jack Nigro (The Terrys, Rum Jungle, Pacific Avenue), ‘Change’ sees the South Coast outfit leaning into themes of human connection, growth, and resilience in the face of today’s social and financial pressures. The track blends sharp riffs, emotive lyricism, and nostalgic, coming-of-age tones, making it one of the band’s most powerful releases to date.

“The song ‘Change’ is rooted in the cost of living crisis and reflects how society has become so focused on getting ahead that we’ve lost a sense of connection with each other. It’s a metaphor for transformation whether that’s personal growth, the evolving world, or even the band’s own musical development. There’s a nostalgic, coming-of-age film feel to the track and lyrically, it’s open to interpretation. Lines like “Still searching for change…” play on the dual meanings of spare money and a deeper desire for societal change, making it resonate differently depending on the listener’s own experiences.” – CHEEKY LEASH
The accompanying video, filmed along the picturesque Gerroa coastline and directed by Brendan Palmer, marks a shift in style for the band, offering a more serious and cinematic interpretation of their sound.
With heavy support from some of the countries biggest tastemakeres and sold-out East Coast shows behind them, Cheeky Leash continue their rise as one of Australia’s most exciting new indie outfits. Fans can catch them on tour nationwide from October through December 2025.
