Childish Gambino Keeps Us Hyped For New ‘Pharos’ Album

Childish Gambino Pharo Performance

Rapping/acting creative Childish Gambino has got us excited about his upcoming album ‘Pharos’ following his audio/visual conceptual performance in Joshua Tree, California last weekend. The no-phones-allowed event gave fans a sneak preview of the rapper’s new project, and we’re super jealous we weren’t there!

The three-day festival performance was designed to showcase his new music and serve as a multi-sensory experience featuring a live band, small choir, and none other than Gambeezy himself dressed in a yellow tribal outfit and covered in tribal paint.

It’s reported the mysterious performance had a tribal feel throughout, and created what can only be described as a funk-jazz hybrid vibe. The show featured minimal rapping and instead, a lot of soulful vocals, while fans were treated to overhead projections of stars, planets, and aliens.

If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard of Childish Gambino (A.K.A Donald Glover), he’s most well-known for his super cool rapping and acting skills. His 2013 album ‘Because The Internet’ debuted at #7 on the US Billboard Top 200, and the album’s first single 3005 made #43 on triple j’s Hottest 100 in 2013. He also starred on NBC’s sitcom Community as Troy Barnes. Childish Gambino headlined Listen Out in 2015 and is set to return to Australia for Falls Festival over the new year.

It sounds like his new album will give us a taste of the new Childish Gambino as he makes the transition from rapper to artist. There’s still no word as to when the ‘Pharos’ album is officially dropping (although we hear its very soon!), but until then, keep calm and listen to Childish Gambino’s 3005 below.
