Chris Hemsworth has officially joined the rockstar ranks — at least for one night.

In front of a sold-out crowd of 70,000 in Bucharest, the Aussie actor jumped behind the drum kit for Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud,” turning a heartfelt ballad into a stadium-sized moment fans will never forget. The Marvel star’s appearance was captured as part of his upcoming National Geographic/Disney+ docuseries Limitless with Chris Hemsworth.

Hemsworth quietly joined Sheeran mid-song, only revealing himself at the very end when the singer introduced him to the crowd. The place erupted, with Sheeran later admitting the whole stunt was months in the making. The actor had reached out last year to say he was learning drums as part of a personal challenge, and was ready to test his skills live.

In Limitless Season 2, Hemsworth reveals he took up drumming after learning he carries a genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s disease. The goal was to sharpen memory, coordination, and focus — all crucial in keeping the brain healthy. Parkway Drive drummer Ben Gordon became his mentor, guiding him from clumsy first beats to a stadium debut.

After the performance, Sheeran presented Hemsworth with a cheeky “Participation Award” for his “drumming excellence,” capping off a moment equal parts rock ‘n’ roll and pure fun.
