City Calm Down Bleeds Deep For Australia With New Single, ‘Blood’
Appearing as the first taster to City Calm Down’s highly anticipated, yet-to-be-announced second album, Blood is out now via I OH YOU. To add to that, the Melbourne four-piece have also announced a whirlwind Australian tour to promote the incredible new track.
Blood is a tale that majority of upcoming Australian musicians can relate to–a struggle with balancing tour and recording life with that of a day job. Inspired by a debacle with a former employer with one of City Calm Down’s members, Blood appears just as frivolous and joyous in its post-punk delivery. Treated as a true progressive milestone after the band’s breakout, debut album, ‘In A Restless House’, signer Jack Bourke ensures both cohesion and elevation in City Calm Down’s music.
“The new record feels like a natural progression from ‘In A Restless House’,” explains Bourke.
“There are songs that expand on the themes and songwriting present on that record, and there are songs that mark a clear departure. It also feels much more cohesive… which is probably due to us having a clearer idea of how we wanted the songs to sound before we went into the studio.”
As the band’s first national tour in almost a year, these shows will be something special as they will showcase new material from the group’s forthcoming sophomore record. City Calm Down also be supported by the Cactus Channel. Scope the national, capital city dates below and stream Blood while you’re at it.
